Candle Tips + Tools
The First Burn
The first burn plays a huge part in caring for your candle. When lighting your candle for the first time, allow the wax to melt all the way to the edges of the glass vessel. This will create what is called a wax pool which helps to prevent tunneling and promotes an even burn every time you light the candle. Another benefit is that it ensure maximum fragrance.
Prevention of Mushroom Wicks
Trim your wick regularly. A mushroom shape at the end of a wick can sometimes form as a result of carbon build up, where the flame consumes more wax than it can burn. It is recommended that you remove these mushrooms and keep your wick to a 5mm length at all times. This encourages a more even burn and a steady flame each and every time you enjoy burning your candle. Make sure to always allow the candle to cool before trimming.
Don't Stress
There's no need to stress if you accidentally spill some candle wax. The cleaning process is very simple. Make sure that you leave the wax to cool and harden before trying to remove it from a surface. Once the wax has hardened, cover it with newspaper, paper towel or brown craft paper and lightly press down onto the paper with an iron on a low heat. The wax will then melt and be absorbed into the paper. Voila! No more spilt wax at your place!
When To Stop Burning
We recommend a maximum time of 4 hours for each burn. It's also a good rule of thumb to stop burning your candle once the wax falls below the 1cm mark. Burning with only a small amount of wax remaining can cause the base of the glass container to overheat which can lead to a crack and damage to the surface where the candle is sitting.
Correct Storage Of Your Candle
To protect your candle from fading or discolouration, we recommend always storing it in a cool, dry place and away from direct sunlight. This doesn't affect the burning of the candle but can sometimes cause the creamy wax to turn a shade of yellow.
